Gallery Furniture Customer Lori Murphy Recaps her Jonathan Louis Experience at High Point

Gallery Furniture customer Lori Murphy shares with everyone her collection likes over at Jonathan Louis, a line she became more familiar with on a late Friday afternoon visit to their showroom in beautiful High Point, North Carolina during the annual High Point Furniture Market (no officially in its 100th year).

"The first thing I noticed, Mack, was the gorgeous use of blue, and I mean that in every shade and color of blue.  Blue, for lack of a better word, is the hip thing this market, and I let Chris and Gil know that it seemed almost every nice piece that I viewed had some hint of blue in it - and I thought it would be nice for Gallery Furniture customers to know what the next trend is - and I wanted to show Houston what they could expect to see in terms of palettes and color schemes that will really start hitting the scene soon."

"I think Gallery Furniture customers will like what many manufacturers seem to have done this particular season is to bring the use of shades of blue and incorporate that with such a wide range of other colors that, at first glance, we might not think of.  Just look how the cute kidney pillows above sort of bring it all together."

"Again, the kidney pillows bring this look together for this set, I also love the fact that this set did not show a loveseat, chair, ottoman, etc. in the kid of traditional sense - I love this sofa and two chairs and cocktail ottoman combination.  Very light looking in terms of size, and as many of my fellow inner-loop Gallery Furniture Houstonians know, you are very tight on space inside the 610 Loop.  A set like this gives you lots of ways to move the seating around and not consuming a massive amount of floor space.  Heck, kill the cocktail ottoman and replace it with something a bit smaller, and you have a real space saver with plenty of comfy seating. "

Lori Murphy is happy to be a part of the Gallery Furniture High Point team, and she is enjoying her experience as a buyer, adding "you definitely don't like everything you see at High Point market, it can really overwhelm you - but what I like, I know I like an I do not dawdle.  Like it, know why I like it, and I move on - go, go, go!"

Gallery Furniture Customer Nancy Burke on Howard Miller Clocks

Hi Mack, this is Nancy Burke (the other Nancy on the trip, I know you saw Nancy Shaddock's video yesterday from Coaster!) and I wanted to showcase some clocks I saw just before I went over to the Ty Pennington line here at High Point Market.  And also, to say thanks for sending me on the trip, this has been a wonderful experience so far - and it's only the second day! 

First, I want to tell you why I love clocks so much.  Clocks are a very versatile and essential part of home furnishings and design.  I know Gallery Furniture carries Howard Miller floorclocks and curio cabinets, and I personally own a Howard Miller clock in my League City home, and having grown up in a house that treasured all manner of clocks, I understand how to use them in the home.

Mack, I would love for Gallery Furniture to first take a look at this clock, below, which is a banjo-styled clock with a distressed wood pattern. 

I think the above clock will be able to fit into any style home - its transitional look serves either as a clash eclectic pattern in a Houston loft or urban setting, and it can fit snugly in a cute traditional home.  These banjo clocks also have a very antique look that blends with anything - you could even it any similar wood-finished Ty Pennington lines from Howard Miller.  That is the best part of the distressing pattern on these clocks.  Personally, I love this clock and I believe it would be at home at Gallery Furniture - especially for the suburban Houston customers who want a nice blend of styles.

What is really nice about Howard Miller floorclocks (and, by the way Mack, they no longer want us to call them "grandfather clocks" - we are now supposed to call them "floor clocks" so they do not alienate the millennials from clocks, but I still like to call them grandfather clocks because that is how I was raised). 

 
Above, this is a gorgeous Ty Pennington floor clock - I really think Gallery Furniture should carry this clock for a couple of reasons - one, the customers who love clocks and are younger will not be put off by the super ornate styles of a traditional grandfather clock, and second it just goes well with all the Ty Pennington pieces with its clean lines.  Gallery Furniture is already set to carry the Ty Pennington line, and this grandfather clock will be the perfect accompanying piece for that crowd.

 
Okay, so the above is not a floor clock or grandfather clock, this is a mantle clock.  Now I know that this may not be something that Gallery Furniture likes to carry, though these antique looking pieces are great for those who may want a traditional family heirloom without it having to take a lot of space that a floor or grandfather clock would take.  I love this piece, it would be nice for Gallery Furniture to carry mantle clocks, though it is a niche piece.

That was it for me Mack, wanted to show you and Gallery Furniture these ideas before we move to the Ty Pennington stuff.

On September 3rd, when Gallery Furniture held the grand opening of Phase II of the Big Showroom at 6006 North Freeway - the great celebration of being 100% open - it came as no surprise that the Bill Stubbs inspirational rooms were not just stunningly perfect, but a huge hit.  Furniture, accessories, rugs, bed spreads, flooring, the art work and pictures, all combined in harmony to make the perfect home.  The effect was so powerful because Bill is a master at tying at everything together to create the perfect look - after all Bill, Stubbs is an artist in his own right.  This perfection then led Bill to make me promise him not to sell any of the floor models for at least three months so that the showroom would look brand new for some time to come.

Great Day at Gallery Furniture

Gallery Furniture started at 100% this morning with a great gift for customers and a visit from Houston's very own Deborah Duncan and her show, Great Day Houston (which airs live daily on KHOU, Channel 11, at 9:00 a.m.).

Customers waited through the night to not just be a part of Gallery Furniture's 100% Celebration, they waited to be the first customers in the store and receive a $500 Gift Certificate as well as a seat in the audience for the Great Day Houston show!  The first 100 through the doors this morning at 8:00 a.m. received a Gallery Furniture Gift Certificate and were selected as audience members. The next 100 customers through the doors of the world's greatest furniture store also received a $500 Gift Certificate and had standing room only to watch as Gallery Furniture went live and showcased the new showroom, exciting new rugs display, the Princess Castle & surrounding children's furniture area, the new and improved playground for kids, the QWebL Home Automation system, the inspirational home set ups, and got a tour of the new vignette display at Gallery Furniture.

First up with Deborah on the Great Day Houston show was Mack, Emergency Operations Assistant Chief Carl Matejka, and Gallery Furniture Sculptor Bob Mosier.  Gallery Furniture thanked the Houston Fire Department for their tremendous work in saving the showroom, and several members of the brave members of HFD who battled that blaze were on hand to receive a rousing standing ovation from the Deborah Duncan audience.
