Last night was night number four for the two marketing team guys who are testing the new Hastens beds. Hamilton, who is testing the Excel bed with BJX topper, files his report.
Mack, the fourth night on the new Hästens Excel went much like the other three -- a great night's sleep!
My wife Debra and I are getting used to the Hastens and expecting nothing less. Both of us report another comfortable night and sleeping the whole night through.
Houston is having nice weather right now. The temperature dipped into the fifties on the north side last night and Debra and I were both warm and cozy even though we don't have the heat on. I was so warm and cozy that I did not want to get up and get going this morning.
I've mentioned in earlier posts that the BJX topper seems to breathe and allow air to circulate around the body better than the old Stearnes & Foster we had. That does not mean you get cold in a chilly room. Far from it, I felt nice and warm all night.
Now that I've had four nights with the Excel, I can put to rest (pardon the pun) another concern that I had about the Hastens. The BJX topper is something like the pillow top Americans have become used to on standard mattresses, but it is not attached. I wondered it if would move around as I turned over in the bed or bunch up. It doesn't. I haven't detected any movement and Debra hasn't mentioned it either. Even though it's light and allows air circulation, it's not going anywhere.
The same goes for the fitted bottom sheet even though it was not designed for the top mattress. (You can get the fitted sheet from Hästens that does fit snugly, and we have them at Gallery Furniture.) Debra likes a fully dressed bed with skirt, sheets, comfortable, and a lot of pillows. Thanks to a set of sheet straps I found, that's not a problem. Frankly, we could have used them on our old bed because every fitted sheet we have ever used slipped off the corner of the mattress at some point.
I've talked with the people from the company about what kind of bedding to use with a Hastens, and while they prefer the European style of a sheet and duvet, I've been told that any bedding scheme you have should work.

Debra has the bed looking nice and I'm not just saying that because I know she'll read this blog entry. By the way, Gallery Furniture does sell a lot of the Hästens bedding, including sheets and duvet covers. I certainly recommend the Anatomical Pillow as noted in an earlier entry.
We'll continue this series of sleep reports in the blog as the test rest folks keep us up to date on their first 30 days with the Hastens beds. You should try these new Hästens beds for yourself. With models starting as low as $4750 you are sure to find the one that works for you. Gallery Furniture is the only place in Houston where you can buy your Hästens bed today, and sleep on it tonight!
