One of my Sales Managers, Bull, just told me about an experience his customer had with another Houston furniture store and how that led the customer to shop with us at Gallery Furniture. This nice gentleman had decided to plan ahead and be ready for his move to Houston, so he purchased over TEN THOUSAND dollars of furniture from this other store six months ago.
Well, six months passed and on the Monday before delivery they called and told him they did not even have the nightstands with his bedroom set, then they told him that the matching living room set had been discontinued. Adding even more insult to injury, they tell him his dining table would not have any chairs! How did they expect him to sit and eat a nice meal with his family? I suppose the other store wanted them to stand around. Well, they would not be able to stand near the buffet and china hutch, which were also unavailable.
When Bull had told me this story it reminded me of why I believe in our TODAY philosophy here at Gallery Furniture: because customers shouldn't have to wait. Especially customers like this nice man who thought ahead and gave himself six months to have his family ready to move in. Well, at Gallery Furniture, we took care of him and we got his furniture to his family for them to enjoy TODAY. And he didnât even have to wait six months or have a backorder slip or be told something is discontinued.
We will have delivered an entire house full of furniture to this customer by 5:30 p.m. today and he came in just before noon today!
At Gallery Furniture, we believe in the customer first, last, and always. We also believe the customer should enjoy what they buy the same day they pay for it.
Stories like this do make me wonder why the other guys can't make good on their delivery, though? At Gallery Furniture we do in SIX HOURS what takes the other guys can't do six months!
